The recent weeks have seen a lot of rumours and leaks around the upcoming Apple devices. The tech giant is expected to hold an online event on March 23. The latest leak to come regarding Apple’s plans is about next-gen Apple AirPods, likely to be called AirPods 3. Tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed that Apple doesn’t have plans to send the next-gen AirPods for production until Q3 2021, which means that if Apple is going for a product launch event on March 23, it won’t be for the next-gen AirPods.
Kuo also predicts that Apple may see a decline in headphone shipments this year due to the rise in competition in the category. He added that the tech giant may also plan not to shelve selling the second-gen AirPods when the new AirPods arrive.
An earlier report by GizmoChina said that the new AirPods will be similar to that of the AirPods Pro, with a small stem and replaceable ear tips. Another report by the website 52 Audio also made a similar claim regarding the design of the true wireless earbuds. It also claimed that the next-generation AirPods will feature Active Noise Cancellation, something new for the base variants in the AirPods lineup. The 2019 AirPods’ passive noise cancellation has worked well in filtering the ambient noise, so if the new ones come with ANC, you could expect the pricing to shoot up too.
Coming back to the major rumour again, Apple is speculated to launch the new iPad Pro, AirPods, AirTags and Apple TV on March 23, 2021.
