KOLKATA: BCCI president and former India captain Sourav Ganguly was admitted to a hospital in his hometown Kolkata on Saturday after suffering what is being called a “mild cardiac arrest”.
Ganguly suffered a “blackout” after a session at the gymnasium on Saturday morning and was rushed to Woodlands Hospital around 11 a.m. from his Behala residence by the family members. He was first admitted to the emergency ward and given preliminary treatment and put through investigations. He was later taken to another ward at the same hospital after he was stabilised. Doctors said he was out of “any immediate danger”.
A senior hospital official said it was likely that he suffered “a mild cardiac arrest”.
He was working out at the gym at his home when he felt dizzy and experienced chest pain, family members said.
Wife Dona Ganguly and elder brother Snehasis Ganguly, who is also a former first class cricketer, were at the hospital. State sports minister and former state cricketer Laxmiratan Shukla, too, rushed to the hospital, where he was joined by senior Cricket Association of Bengal officials.
