India began the chase in the final session with needing 407 runs for a win. Initially, they began watchfully with Sharma and Gill. Slowly they started to open up as both played their shots. Soon they brought up their 50-run stand for the second time in this Test. Just when it felt that these two will go on and on. Gill departed pegging India slightly on the back foot. Sharma though continued from one end as Pujara found it difficult to negotiate the turn and bounce from Lyon. Rohit, in the end, managed to get to his 50. It was his first overseas Test fifty as an opener. Just when he started to open up playing freely, he holed one out to fine leg. In the end, Pujara and skipper Rahane managed to see off the day for the visitors.
