NEW DELHI: A never-seen-before avatar of legendary Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid has been one of the biggest talking points across the nation and given people in India a reason to smile at a time when the Covid-19 situation is looking rather gloomy.
Dravid is seen in a never seen before avatar in a new advertisement that hit the internet on Friday afternoon.
In just 11 seconds, Dravid has managed to pull off something so incredible that it has bewildered even the greatest of ad gurus in the country.
Hashtags like #IndiraNagarkaGunda, #RahulDravid and #IndiraNagar have been spreading like wildfire and the 48-year-old has been the top ranked trending topic on the social media platform Twitter.
Dravid’s commercial, which showcases him in a wild and angry avatar on the busy streets of Bengaluru is something that has stunned a lot of people.
In the ad video Dravid is seeing angrily shouting at others on the streets of Bengaluru from his car, chucking a milkshake cup at a car window and even bashing up a side view mirror of another car with a cricket bat before declaring “Indira Nagar ka gunda hoon mein”.

Despite it of course being play acting for the camera, an angry Rahul Dravid is something no one can really imagine, let alone one who is screaming and shouting at others on the roads. And that is what the ad is pegged on as well, where another actor says “It’s like saying Rahul Dravid has anger issues”.
Dravid also usually doesn’t do too may ads. Which is why one of the greatest gentlemen cricket has ever seen deciding to portray a character like this in an advertisement has left most people in splits.
Reactions of love, admiration, memes have been all over social media since the time Dravid’s ad hit the internet and TV screens.
The advertisement in fact is also being played out during the ongoing IPL.
From cricket stars to his fans, everyone seems to be enjoying this new angry avatar of Dravid’s, albeit for the purposes of an advertisement.
