CHENNAI: The bio-secure bubble maintaining the Covid protocols for the ongoing India England series was breached during lunch by a young fan on Monday.
During lunch on Day 3, as the reserve England players were practising in one of the pitches at the middle of the ground, when one young fan climbed the Chepauk fence which is at least 12 metres long and ran straight into the ground. Strangely, no policemen at the stands stopped him.
The fan wanted to shake hands with the England players but they asked him to go back. The young boy, dressed in an India jersey, ran back and climbed the fence again to get back into the stands.
The police and the officials at the ground had reacted by then and they swooped in and took the fan outside the stadium.
This was the first case of such an incident during the series. They have to be more cautious so that such a thing doesn’t happen in the future.
The Indian team is looking to claw back into the series after the loss in the first Test and they too wouldn’t want any such incident to happen.
