Former England captain Kevin Pietersen took to Twitter to pass on a message to the Indian cricket team, after their defeat to England in the first Test match, of their ongoing four-match series. Joe Root led England to a victory by 227 runs, with the captain also scoring a double-hundred. After India’s victory in the four-match Test series against Australia, Pietersen had warned India on Twitter to be well prepared for England, despite their historic win at The Gabba. He advised them to not celebrate so much and to gear up for the series against England.

He had tweeted, “India – yeh aitihaasik jeet ka jashn manaye kyuki yeh sabhi baadhao ke khilaap hasil hui hai LEKIN , ASLI TEAM toh kuch hafto baad a rahi hai jisse aapko harana hoga apne ghar mein . Satark rahe , 2 saptaah mein bahut adhik jashn manaane se saavadhaan rahen”.

Spinner Jack Leach was in top form for England, registering six wickets during the first Test match. Meanwhile, James Anderson also took five dismissals. Also, in his 100th Test match, Root slammed 218 off 377 balls during his side’s first innings.

Having taken a 1-0 lead in the four-match series, England face India in the second Test match, in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, from February 13. The hosts will be aiming to put a better display, and level the series.
