New IRCTC e-ticketing website & app launched! Check full list of passenger-friendly features

IRCTC e-ticketing website – – and the IRCTC Rail Connect app have been upgraded! Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has unveiled a more passenger-friendly version of the IRCTC railway ticket booking site and app. Indian Railways passengers can look forward to a more personalised, faster and seamless ticket booking experience with the upgraded IRCTC website, state railway officials. According to IRCTC, the new website will take the train ticket booking experience of passengers to the next level.
The concept of “one click” forms the theme of the new IRCTC website, with several details such as availability of trains, booking of meals and accommodation, last transaction details etc. being made available at the click of a button. Some of the major features of the upgraded new IRCTC website are:
More customer-friendly interface:
1. Intelligent journey and station suggestions
2. Overhaul of ‘One Stop’ Train selection feature
3. Enhanced train search
At “one click”, IRCTC users will be able to get the following details:
1. Integrated booking of accommodation
2. Last transaction details
3. Refund status of all journeys including cancellations
The new IRCTC website user interface offers:
1. All classes availability & confirmation probability on one page
2. “One Click” start for booking of selected class and train
3. Predictive entry option for saved passenger details
4. Cache system to give the current status with accuracy and faster speed
5. Improved payment pages for easier selection
6. Prompt for review of journey
The IRCTC website is meant to be a one-stop place to cater to all passenger needs, not just booking of train tickets. The passenger should be able to book food, cabs on both sides, hotel etc. as per his/her need, Railway Board Chairman & CEO VK Yadav said.
Last week, the Railway Minister had reviewed the upgradation work and had asked railway officials to ensure that the new version of the IRCTC e-ticketing platform provides “holistic convenience” to passengers. Goyal said that as more and more people switch to booking train tickets online, the focus should be on a user-friendly and convenient website.
The last time Indian Railways upgraded the IRCTC e-ticket booking website was in 2018 when several new features had been introduced. These included checking of train availability without the need to log in, more personalised dashboard, and also the introduction of a new CNF probability feature that allowed passengers to check the chances of their waitlisted tickets getting confirmed.
The aim was to enable passengers to make a more informed decision while booking train tickets – for example if the CNF probability of a waitlisted ticket getting confirmed (based on previous booking and cancellation history of the train) is low, then the passenger may prefer to opt for another train on the same route or choose another date for travel.
